Signed RHP Jair Jurrjens to a one-year deal worth $1.5 million. [1/24]

Is Orioles Magic still a thing? If it is then Jurrjens will regain his old velocity and spend nights with the man with thistledown hair. If not he'll settle for becoming a back-end starter. Jurrjens could not miss bats in the International League last season, so there's not a ton of hope for him in the AL East. Changing venues could help refresh him, but he needs some new toys to go with the new mindset and uniform if he wants to stick.

It's weird to see Jurrjens' name pop up as essentially a "let's see if he can stick on the roster" signing, but I guess he's always been one of those guys with more name value than actual value in my mind. Looking at his line, his last full season was 2009, and the past three years weren't especially great despite a flukey ERA in 2011.

The "official" depth chart on MLB.com shows Jennings in left, Sam Fuld in Center (they love that Fuld guy), and Joyce in Right. I'd imagine we'll see Zobrist in Right at times, especially against tough lefties. I'd find it interesting if they gave Brandon Guyer a longer look in left, moving Jennings to Center, just to find out if he really is the quad A type he has seemed to be, or perhaps just needs some time in the Show to get it together...

Well that hole (Fuld) has been solved with Kelly Johnson. I commented about it in Jason Martinez's blog on A.L. East impact rookies. Myers will later take over for whoever gets hurt or stinks badly between Johnson, James Loney, or Luke Scott.

By the way, if this trade never went through, I'd be shocked if Fuld played center over Jennings.

In fact, I'll call it now. Rosario will bat .200 in April (though with fine power numbers) and will get benched and then demoted by June for a month or two, just like Iannetta, Fowler, Tulowitzki, etc.
