Apparently there was some kind of furor over a bad call in the football game last night thanks to some replacement referees? Phew. At least baseball fans never have to worry about bad calls mucking up their game…

Let's get to the trots!

Home Run of the Day: Josh Hamilton, Texas Rangers – 19.72 seconds [video]
The race for the Triple Crown continues. With Josh Hamilton in the line up for the first time in a week last night, the Texas star slugged a home run into the upper deck of The Ballpark. With 43 home runs on the season, Hamilton now has the sole lead for the American League home run crown compared to Miguel Cabrera's 42. But it isn't just Hamilton fighting to deny Cabrera the crown. With two home runs last night, Adam Dunn now sits one behind Cabrera with 41 home runs, as does Edwin Encarnacion. Cabrera will need to out-homer all of these contenders to walk away with the first Triple Crown in 45 years.

Slowest Trot: Prince Fielder, Detroit Tigers – 25.95 seconds [video]
Only the 28th home run of the year for the man who pushed Cabrera to third base, but it was a big one. Fielder knew it right away, gently dropping his bat in front of him as he watched the bat sail away. Yoenis Cespedes had the next slowest trot of the night, clocking in at 24.87 seconds.

Quickest Trot: Curtis Granderson, New York Yankees – 18.77 seconds [video]
Cabrera can't ignore Granderson in his run for the home run title, as Monday's home run was the 40th of the year for Granderson. He joins a select group of Yankees to have hit 40+ home runs in back-to-back years. The next quickest trot was from Pedro Florimon, who trotted around the bases in 19.08 seconds on his first career home run.
