He doesn't look like a home run hitter - not like Miguel Cabrera. He doesn't play a home run hitter's position traditionally. He had a substantial career until recently as a guy who one would not think of as a home run hitter - although he did set some sort of modern record for hitting triples.

It's probably good that he doesn't consider himself one - in that it is better to not feel too much pressure to hit one. There is probably a little added pressure on every Yankee, anyway.

Yes--it's possible that Granderson's insistence that he's not a home run hitter is in some way helping him hit home runs, in which case he should continue not to think of himself that way.

It's an interesting meme tho. Maybe we(the media) are all taking it a bit too seriously. The dude swings for the fences if you watch him at all. And theres's nothing wrong with that.

It seems like the ridiculously short RF fence in Yankee Stadium has poisoned both Granderson's and Teixiera's approaches at the plate, with their BAs plummeting as they hit more HRs. Oddly, though, Granderson doesn't seem aware of this.
