Tater Trot Tracker

Trot Times for September 7

by Larry Granillo

It's a beautiful September weekend so let's get right to the trots!

Home Run of the Day: Ryan Braun, Milwaukee Brewers - 22.67 seconds [video]
A two-and-a-half hour rain delay meant that the game between the Brewers and Cardinals in St. Louis didn't begin until 9:35pm. A thirteen inning game meant that game wouldn't be over until well into the wee hours of the night. This go-ahead home run from Ryan Braun, his 38th of the year, meant that the Brewers were finally able to win the game at 2:05am. How many fans stayed until the end?

Also in consideration for the Home Run of the Day was Matt Dominguez, who hit a go-ahead, three-run home run off Cincinnati closer Aroldis Chapman in the ninth inning last night for the Astros. That doesn't happen very often against the hard-throwing reliever.

Slowest Trot: Yadier Molina, St. Louis Cardinals - 24.45 seconds [video]
If things had gone the other way in St. Louis, there's a good chance that this blast from Molina would have been the Home Run of the Day instead. The eighth-inning blast tied the game at 4 and ushered in the entire 13-inning affair. At 24.45 seconds, this is a rather pedestrian trot. It just happened to fall on a night when no one else (despite 37 home runs being hit across the league) trotted slower. Alex Rodriguez, who hit his 300th home run as a Yankee, was right behind Molina with a 24.42 second trot. Ryan Zimmerman, who seemed to enjoy his home run a bit more than usual, was number three with a 24.35 second trot.

Quickest Trot: Dustin Pedroia, Boston Red Sox - 18.87 seconds [video]
You'd think that, with such a not-so-slow slowest trot, the quickest trot of the day might be a bit better. However, it looks like the day was just filled with perfectly uninteresting trots, as Pedroia's 18.87 second trot is the quickest of the day.
