The Tater Trot Tracker will be Melky Cabrera-free today—though that's only because he hasn't hit a home run since August 4. I guess those PEDs weren't doing much, huh? *nudge, nudge*

Let's get to some real trots!

Home Run of the Day: Jay Bruce, Cincinnati Reds – 18.95* seconds [video]
A walkoff home run for Bruce. It was 0-0 game in the bottom of the ninth when Bruce hit his home run. That's pretty darn exciting.

Slowest Trot: Matt Holliday, St. Louis Cardinals – 23.93 seconds [video]
Bad luck for Holliday to find himself atop this list for such a seemingly normal home run trot. Holliday just edges out Nick Swisher for the slowest trot of the day.

Swisher was interesting. Watching the video, Swisher put his body into a position to sprint out of the box as soon as he made contact. It didn't last long, however, because once Swisher saw that the ball had a chance to leave the yard, he stopped himself from running in order to watch the ball fly. And it wasn't like this ball was flying down the rightfield line; it landed over the bullpen wall in right-center. That's not a maneuver that you generally see from home run hitters (and it's one that I expect opposing teams wouldn't appreciate).

Quickest Trot: Omar Quintanilla, Baltimore Orioles – 18.3 seconds [video]
A nice quick sprint for the Orioles second-baseman. Quintanilla beats out the walkoff blast from Bruce for the day's quickest trot. Bruce and Quintanilla were the only two players to come in under 20 seconds on Tuesday.
