Bubba Starling, OF, Royals (Rookie-level Burlington): 3-for-6, 2 HR (2), 3 R, 6 RBI, 3 K.

It's weird how many people seem to have written off Starling before his career even began. Maybe it's his age, and maybe it's the generally miserable state of Royals fans these days, but Starling still has jaw-dropping tools and while he started this year in Rookie-ball instead of Low-A, he'll still

be young for the Midwest League in 2013. There's nothing to be down on Starling about, as he's barely played yet, and maybe Monday night's performance will calm everyone down for a bit.

I think a lot of people have written Starling off because a lot of people have assumed he's Donovan Tate v.2 (even though Tate isn't really a good comp for Starling).

I don't know that a lot of people have written him off...i just think it's been a case of 'out of sight, out of mind.'

If Starling has a good first couple of weeks, everybody will be back on the bandwagon.

Hey, as of today, Tate is hitting .300 at High-A ... just the facts ... (and a few hopes ... still ...)

FWIW, Goodwin's slash lines over the last ten games is .389/.540 (that is not a typo)/.639. He was hurt for a while but seems to have recovered.

Kevin, I am curious what happens when Billy Hamilton reaches base. Does the other team throw over there a ton, make frequent pitchouts and try to stop him or do they just throw their hands in the air and say, we'll focus on the hitter, to heck with chasing this rocket...

Have you seen any/many games with him wreaking havoc? It must be quite a fun game within the game.

I couldn't find an example of how teams treat him on-base in the first couple of clicks on YouTube, but here's him hitting an inside-the-park home run last year: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P2RTN3-RfgI&feature=related

That speed is just downright scary. Yes, the outfielders looked like they had problems fielding the ball because of how bad the field conditions were, but that looks like a ball that's a double, MAYBE a triple for most players. Hamilton beats the throw home pretty easily.

Aside from the crazy K numbers, Pimentel has actually been good since the end of April (something like .300/.333/.450). Just that he was soooo terrible in April that the overall line still looks less than good.

I'm curious how much Yelich has improved in terms of prospect status. Entering the season at #33 and a 5 star prospect, is he making a serious run for top 20, maybe even top 15? By comparison he doesn't have the warts that Myers and Brown entered 2012 with.
