I agree Kevin that Pomeranz should be back in the Rockies rotation BUT the great, almighty, all-knowing, Wizard of Oz...errrrr...Jim Tracy---with this trusty genius sidekick Bob Apodaca--has decided he needs work on his downward plane.
The same Mensa duo that after 5 spring training starts and a 0.53 ERA, including shutting down the White Sox (with all starters in the lineup) for six shutout innings in his last spring start, decided that Pomeranz needed to be taken off of his every 5 day spring routine and sent to the minor league camp. The ingenious plan was to rest Pomeranz, thus taking him out of the productive groove he had gotten into, and then insert him into the rotation two weeks later. Amazingly, at least to Einstein and Hawking errr...Tracy and Apodaca---after two weeks and a day off with one 4 inning AA start in between--Pomeranz was not sharp when they inserted him into the Rockies rotation on April 14. So after 5 starts where he was justifiably a little out of sync, they banished Pomeranz to AAA Colorado Springs.
The whole Rockies situation, led by the way Einstein and Hawking are handling the pitching staff, is the most bizarre thing I have seen in my almost 50 years of watching MLB. But the owner is happy as 30,000+ mindless purple trolls march into Coors Field for every home game.
