Zack Greinke returned to Kansas City last night in the Brewers 2-1 loss to the Royals. Greinke doesn't talk to the press much except on days he pitches. Lucky for us, he pitched last night—giving us the chance to see this fantastic interview.
Q: Any special meaning with the haircut today or was it just time?
A: Nah, [it was my] haircut guy from back in the day. He used to have a cool charm of some clippers, but they’re gone now. He does a good job. He told me to give him a shout-out today, too.
Q: What’s his name?
A: I wish I knew.
The interview also includes Greinke's take on talking to friends of his on the opposing team ("Occasionally, I’ll wave, but…"), getting himself traded ("…I had to give them motivation to do it."), the Kansas City fans wearing his jersey ("when I was here there was more people wearing like Affeldt jerseys"), and giving his father his Cy Young Award ("he said he wanted me to have it or something"). I can't find the quote (apparently I'm not good at The Google), but I have a memory (false or otherwise) of Joe writing, "No one does 'blank stare' like Zack Greinke." That line stuck with me for some reason.
