We know from past experience that camera men spend a lot of their down time during games scanning the stands for attractive female fans. To be fair, this isn’t necessarily any different from what every other guy at the ballpark is doing. It's just that camera guys are the only ones whose wandering eyes preserve everything they see in a format that's saved, stored, and sometimes shared with the entire internet. Think about how terrible life would be if someone were recording everything you looked at. It’s tough to be a camera guy.

Sometimes, the women in the stands aren’t scantily clad enough to catch a camera man’s eye. Sometimes, he's too polite to stare. In either of those cases, his only option is to go outside the stadium in search of distraction. BP reader Burr Rutledge sent me this video, which he took at the Yankees-Rays game last night. According to Burr, the whole section was watching the camera man, who was in turn watching women wrestle.

A friend of mine who knows all about these things (and, believe it or not, also works in a baseball operations department) tells me that TNA Impact was what the camera man was watching. Evidently, this particular segment was a four-way match between Mickie James, Velvet Sky, Miss Tessmacher, and Tara* to determine the top contender for the creatively named “Knockouts Championship.” (You know, because they’re knockouts, and they’re knocking each other out.) My friend also asked me to mention that “TNA is terrible.” But apparently not as terrible as watching David Price warm up.

*Female wrestler names sound like a cross between adult film stars and 2012 draftees.

The best part: if the camera man missed any of the match when he was forced to switch back to baseball, he can catch up on all the action here.

Update from Burr: “One of the other camera guys up there was constantly scanning the crowd between innings and zooming in for close-ups on the attractive ladies in the stands.” It’s nice to know that some camera guys are still sneaking looks at ladies the old-fashioned way.

Note: I do alert you to the presence of adult subject matter. Don't say I didn't warn you.

I had a buddy in college who had a whole VHS tape of couples engaging in fellatio at White Sox games. This was over 20 years ago at old Comiskey. I can't imagine that would be commonplace these days unless your team has poor attendance. If so, keep an eye out for fans with blankets.

At least WGN broadcasts of Cubs games still use this footage. Watching Cubs-Twins right now, and it's like Arne Harris never left us...
