Just a quick post as today (and possibly this weekend) is going to be busy. Let's get to the trots!

Home Run of the Day: Norichika Aoki, Milwaukee Brewers #2 – 22.68 seconds [video]
Before Thursday, the Japanese rookie had yet to hit a home run in the traditional, over-the-fence manner. By the end of the day, Aoki had accomplished that feat twice *and* hit his first Major League walkoff home run (or, as the Japanese say, sayonara home run). Not a bad day.

Slowest Trot: David Freese, St. Louis Cardinals #1 – 26.46 seconds [video]
Freese's two home runs on Thursday are also the day's two slowest trots. At 26.46 seconds, the first trot is nearly a full second slower than the second trot which, in turn, is nearly 2.5 seconds slower than Buster Posey's 23.2 second trot (number three on the day).

Miguel Cabrera and Giancarlo Stanton also hit home runs, but neither qualified for a trot time. Cabrera's shot was ruled a home run on the field, but not until after he had fully stopped at second. Stanton's was initially ruled a double and changed on replay. Shane Robinson has a trot time below, but only because there is no video evidence that he stopped at second base. Watching his trot, though, it does seem like the confusion may have caused him to pause at the bag.

Quickest Trot: Gregor Blanco, San Francisco Giants – 17.77 seconds [video]
It's fun to see Blanco race to the top of these lists everyday. It was a speedy day all around, though, as three other trots came in at 18.5 seconds or faster (two from Jason Heyward!).

The best part of the Aoki walk-off is that Aoki and his translator got the shaving cream pie treatment.

I'd have been tempted to consider Shane Robinson's the trot of the day, simply because of the improbability of Robinson getting one out of the park. There are bigger eight-year-olds.
