The Tater Trot Tracker was away for a couple of days. I apologize; I was busy.

But we're back in the swing of things now, so let's get right to the trots!

Home Run of the Day: Nelson Cruz, Texas Rangers – 22.75 seconds [video]
I saw some complaining from Yankees fans yesterday about the way Prince Fielder admired his blast off of Phil Hughes. I wonder what those same people would have said if they saw Nelson Cruz's blast on Sunday and the way he watched it fly. Of course, Cruz then went out of his way to race around the bases quickly, but the moment of admiration was at least as bad on Cruz's part. Not that it wasn't deserved. Cruz's 484 foot blast was the longest of the season.

It should also be noted that Carlos Zambrano slammed his first home run of the season on Sunday. It was the sixth longest home run of the day, four feet longer than Fielder's.

Slowest Trot: Hanley Ramirez, Miami Marlins – 25.64 seconds [video]
Hanley squeaks past Fielder's 25.49 second trot to take the crown today. It's Ramirez's third home run of June already and, at 25.64 seconds, his quickest trot of the month.

On Friday, Alfonso Soriano dragged himself into the top five slowest trots of the year with a 28.65 second beauty.

Two trots this weekend were not included in the final tallies. In both cases, for Ramon Santiago on Friday and Gerardo Parra on Sunday, the only available television feeds of the game cut away from the player too far away from the plate to get even an approximate trot time.

Quickest Trot: Bryce Harper, Washington Nationals – 17.15 seconds [video]
A blast into Nationals Park's second deck was not enough to slow the phenom down. His 17.15 second trot is the fourth fastest of the year. As of today, Harper is responsible for the three of the four quickest trots all season. Harper only has five home runs.
