Since I have a case of writer’s block that could cause Stephen King to
cut back to a novel a week or so, I thought I’d lean on some
administrative announcements today.

We’re working on getting player cards up again. We realize they’ve been
down a while, and we’re kind of rolling that project up into a few other
things that we’re changing on the back end.

Wanted: about 100 BP readers, both regular and intermittent, to review
and provide guidance on new features and products. You’ll get to see
potential products and features (both winners and losers) ahead of time,
and offer your insight as to how things can be improved. We can only
offer our sincere gratitude in terms of compensation. Email us if
you’re interested.

At this point in time, no one on the BP staff is interested in sharing
any of the $126 million your father/uncle/business associate has locked
away in a Nigerian Bank. It just seems wrong to receive something for
nothing, especially when all you ask is to know our checking account
numbers.

Look for a HACKING MASS update
in this space soon. Fair warning:
Someone emailed me bragging about their team containing Tony Clark,
Greg Vaughn, and Cesar Izturis, so it could well be a runaway for whoever
that guy is. Also, there’s one hmcrae@tampaonline.com with a really
bizarre entry, laced with profanity that could make some of Cher’s dates
blush. The team looks pretty solid, though.

There will be a Pizza Feed this Thursday evening, August 29, at 7:00,
at the Round Table Pizza at 3393 Port Chicago Hwy in Concord, CA. We’re
trying to respond to people’s requests, so this venue was chosen in
large part due to its proximity to public transit. (The Round Table
Pizza in question is about four long blocks from the North Concord BART
Station.) I think there’s a 50/50 chance that we’ll have a new labor
agreement by that time. If there is, we’ll try to focus on what the
structure of the new deal means for MLB and individual teams. Sorry
for the late notice, and I hope you can come out and join us.
