BP Unfiltered: Top Minor League Prospects Compilation – Update #3

The third top prospects compilation update of the year is now available. I have linked to the new file below. The Excel workbook contains tabs at the bottom representing each of the league’s divisions as well as a tab for top 100 lists and positional analysis.

This update contains a few more team specific top ten lists as well as a couple more top 100s. The biggest addition, however, comes via the contribution of one of our very enthusiastic and talented readers, Mr. Kevin Greenstein (NOT Goldstein). KG2.0 pulled together the top 100 lists and created a sortable matrix! Many of you have asked for this, so now you have it, thanks to Kevin.

Once we're confident all top 100 lists have been published, Kevin will calculate a weighted composite ranking that we'll share with everyone. Thank you Kevin!

Thanks, I didn't know that. Normally his two top 50 lists are in his book, and I can't use those because they aren't free. But I see the top 120 now so I'll add it for the next update.

10 Team, NL Only, 25-man roster (15-10), $28 cap, who's the first minor leaguer drafted this year outside Taillon, Harper, Grandal and Arenado? Is Rendon the obvious choice or is his move to 2B hurt his value since he has no speed? I think Was send Rendon to TB for Upton...agree?

KG and Law just put out The top 100 prospects for 2012 which is completely different, so is there a compilation for this criteria?

Those are top 100 fantasy prospects for 2012. Different criteria altogether and won't be included.

Where is Tex newly acquired teenager stand on these lists? His length and speed are quite intriguing while all I read is he's a hard worker with a great attitude and reaching potential is almost entire;y based on those attributes.

He's not officially on the Rangers. MLB is investigating the contract as we speak.

However you're planning on weighting the composite, I suggest weighting Dobber at zero. Any list which leaves Profar, Sano, D'Arnaud,and Lindor out of the top 100 lacks any sort of credibility.

...And has Charlie Blackmon at 15, and includes Jason Kipnis still, and includes Dayan Viciedo? The March update at least moves Profar to 58. Actually, the page says specifically that it's ranking prospects for fantasy baseball keeper leagues. Shouldn't lists like these receive much different weight?
