Found in the May 14, 1946, Charlestown Daily Mail:

The game in question was the back-end of a doubleheader in St. Louis versus the Reds. Musial went 1-for-4 (and scored the Cards' only run)  against Cincinnati's Ewell Blackwell as St. Louis fell 5-1.

Adjusting for inflation, Mr. Boston was fined over $5,500 for throwing a beer bottle at The Man. There's no doubt that this was the act of a deranged man, but, even so, that is an incredible fine. I suspect that Judge Grellner was a Cardinals fan…

And on the other hand, though, if he had hit and killed Musial, he would have gone to jail for (perhaps) second-degree murder, if he hadn't been the victim of mob violence first.

You continue to dig up amazing stuff. Thanks for the hard work.

Hahaha! Somebody gave you a -1 for that! Did Rupert Murdoch buy out BP or something? Sheesh.

Anyway, you should know that it can't possibly be O'Reilly because "The Worst" anything will always have some kind of connection to the city of Boston. Viz. Frank Boston. Oh wait, looks like O'Reilly went to BU. There you have it - Dodger is correct. Bill O'Reilly is in fact the worst man in the world (his Wikipedia portrait alone obviates any argument).

I'm guessing if it was the Cards' utility infielder, the fine would have been a little less.
