Well, it looks like the Rockies and Reds saw my jokes about the dearth of home runs these last few days. The two clubs combined on Saturday for nine home runs in the same game. In the remaining 14 games, there were 26 more home runs hit, meaning the game in Colorado was responsible for a quarter of the league's home runs. It was quite the slugfest at Coors Field.
How about those trots?
Home Run of the Day: Alex Rios, Chicago White Sox – 22.74 seconds [video]
A walkoff, 10th-inning grand slam from the not-so-power-hitting centerfielder. Good enough for the day's top tater, though.
Slowest Trot: Brandon Inge, Detroit Tigers – 26.03 seconds [video]
Another walkoff home run, this one comes with two-outs in the bottom of the ninth in a tie game. Inge definitely took his sweet time getting home to celebrate with his teammates – not that anyone can blame him.
The home run trot from Seattle's Mike Carp was untimeable. With only one video feed (Seattle's ROOT network), I'm at the mercy of the single director. In this case, the Seattle director cut away from the trot until it was much too late, giving me an untimeable trot.
Quickest Trot: Chris Heisey, Cincinnati Reds #2 – 18.37 seconds [video]
Heisey was responsible for two of the nine home runs hit in the Cincinnati/Colorado game – and both of the two quickest trots of the day. Heisey is always good for a quick trot, which was more than obvious on Saturday. San Diego's James Darnell, in his first career home run, was the next quickest trotter of the day at 19.44 seconds.
