Trot Times for September 5

Apologies for the long weekend. It didn't get any shorter with the 37 home runs hit across the league on Monday. Among those homers were five players who went deep twice for the holiday.

Let's get to the trots!

Home Run of the Day: Brett Lawrie, Toronto Blue Jays - 19.67 seconds [video]
The Yankees' Jesus Montero hit his first and second career home runs on Monday, making him one of the youngest players in Yankees' history to have a multi-home run game. Toronto's Brett Lawrie wins the day, though, with his 11th-inning, walkoff blast in the Boston/Toronto 1-0 contest. His blast was punctuated by a top of the line jump onto the plate.

Slowest Trot: Victor Martinez, Detroit Tigers - 26.78* seconds [video]
The camera cut away as Martinez was making his final step, so the exact timing may be a bit off. It is clearly enough for the Slowest Trot, though, as the next slowest trot was more than a second quicker from Billy Butler at 25.34 seconds. (Butler's first trot was surprisingly quick, clocking in at a staggering 23.25 seconds for the big man.)

Quickest Trot: Scott Sizemore, Oakland Athletics - 18.57 seconds [video]
It was a surprisingly competitive race on Monday for the Quickest Trot. Scott Sizemore of the A's took the title, but three other players - including Milwaukee's Nyjer Morgan and Tampa Bay's B.J. Upton - were within a half-second of the crown. Overall, ten players trotted around the bases in under-twenty seconds on Labor Day.
