If you spent your weekend staring at the bottom of Baseball Prospectus web pages and periodically refreshing—and if you did, you probably had a better weekend than Ramon Castro or Francisco Cordero—you may have noticed something new show up in the wee hours of Saturday morning:

As exciting as perusing our Privacy Policy can be—particularly the bit about cookies, if you're feeling famished—the most exciting option here is, appropriately, the only one with an exclamation point:

First, we brought you The BP Wayback Machine. Next, we made our old articles free. Now, we're giving you another way to dive into our archives and while away your workday. If you click on the "Surprise Me!" button—which can be found in the same location regardless of what BP page you're viewing—you'll be taken to a randomly selected article from our back pages. Naturally, you never know what you're gonna get, making Baseball Prospectus more like a box of chocolates than ever before. Ironically, the first old article I got was a link to an even older article. How about you?

Thank you for reading

My first thought was, "What a useless addition." Then I clicked, and got sucked into an article from back when I was still trying to get the nerve to talk to a girl my age. Then I got sucked into another.

There goes my free time.

If you're lucky, you might be surprised with an article about that.

Cool feature. This can tide me over on the looooong weekends with no new BP content (BTW- I got a Sheehan article about the 2008 Marlins wild-card chances)

I got an article where all the apostrophes displayed as little question marks. (Chrome, Windows, FWIW.)

I got this too, but assumed it was because I'm using my work's version of IE, which is from the stone ages.

2006 Prospectus Today by Joe Sheehan documenting the struggles of Bobby Crosby (who torpedoed my fantasy team that year).

I got this:

"I'll have better self-discipline. Sometimes, a position of power can affect how you treat people. And not in a good way."
--Jim Bowden, former Reds general manager and new GM of the Unnamed Washington Baseball Franchise (Cincinnati Inquirer)

Whoa.

For roto players, links to articles that will appear in the FUTURE would be more helpful. It would be nice to know if Heath Bell is going to be traded out of my NL Only league. Can you make that happen next weekend?

Got an article reminding me not to get too caught up in 1997 Cactus League results. Good advice then, good advice now.
