There were four rainouts across the league yesterday. Pretty impressive. Makes me wonder if Mother Nature is going to try and set a personal best later on this week, maybe bring it up to six or seven rainouts on a single night. That'd be something to write about.

As it is, with a third of the league stuck in their hotel rooms rewatching Anchorman, there were only twelve home runs hit on Tuesday. There were some pretty good ones, though.

Why don't we get to the trots?

Home Run of the Day: Brian McCann #2, Atlanta Braves – 22.51 seconds [video]
McCann didn't start this game. He made his first appearance in the ninth inning as a pinch-hitter. There were two outs, the bases were empty, and the Braves were losing 1-0. McCann tied it up with one swing of the bat. Two innings later, the game was still tied. McCann came up for his second at-bat (he stayed in the game, of course) and won the game with a second swing of the bat. People in Atlanta who stayed until the end will remember this game for years and years.

Slowest Trot: Alex Rodriguez #1, New York Yankees – 22.79 seconds [video]
A-Rod's second home run of the game, at 21.49 seconds, was a bit faster, but neither of these trots are "slow". They're two well-run, perfectly average trots that just happened to come on a day where no one else hit home runs. At least it gives us a reason to mention A-Rod's two home runs, which may have gotten lost on another day thanks to McCann's big game. I still enjoy seeing Alex Rodriguez hit home runs.

Quickest Trot: Brian McCann #1, Atlanta Braves – 19.52* seconds [video]
There's a good chance that this is McCann's first time in the Quickest Trot of the day category. It's perfectly understandable – that two-out, two-strike, game-tying home run is something to be proud of. A good reason to trot home quickly.

There's a chance that Elliot Johnson's 19.62 second trot was the fastest of the day, though. In the McCann highlight, a Braves player stands in front of the camera right as McCann gets to the plate. If McCann stepped on the plate at a slightly different moment than it looked like, Johnson's time could be quicker.
