The second top prospects compilation file is now available. I've added Kevin Goldstein's star ratings back into the grids and updated the usual suspects. There's also a new series of entries this week from MILB Prospects by Matt Garrioch.

For those of you who missed last week's post or are unfamiliar with this compilation, here's a little primer for you:

I've been accumulating top prospect rankings from various sources across the Internet since 2007. Each year, I'd take the rankings of different sites and organize them within a master Excel workbook so readers could compare one list to the next. At first I prepared the worksheets for a handful of friends and colleagues, but before long, dozens of readers and analysts (including many here at BP) were asking to download the compilations.

I have linked below to the new top prospects compilation file. The Excel workbook contains several tabs at the bottom representing each of the league’s divisions as well as a tab for top 100 lists and positional analysis. My goal is to update the file at least once a week through April.

As usual, if you find any errors or omissions, would like to recommend a ranking source, or have any other comments or suggestions, please email me at jhamrahi@baseballprospectus.com.

Thanks!

Joe, thanks for compiling these. Just a suggestion though.. instead of putting 'headers' for KG's list, put the star designation next to each player. Kinda like you put the letter grade next to each player in Sickels' list. My $0.02

Seconded. Formatting will work better this way. Anyway, thanks for adding the stars.

I'd love to see this thing but don't have Excel. Anyone know of a work-around that might work here? Some freeware, perhaps?
Thanks.

Pobo, openoffice.org has a free spreadsheet program that will open and edit .xls files. You can also download the excel viewer from microsoft.com.
