Server Switch this Weekend

by Dave Pease

Due to the slowness we've been experiencing on the current server setup, we've moved up our transition schedule and we'll be switching servers over the coming weekend. We're configuring the new hardware now, and it should provide much quicker service for you once we've cut over.  The site will be unavailable for parts of Saturday and/or Sunday nights as we move, and we may have other outages over the weekend. My apologies in advance for any service outages you experience.

We're also going to forego our usual Sunday slate of content and newsletter, though we'll probably have some blog posts during the weekend.

Thanks for your patience, and we'll see you on the other side.

Great news, Dave. Response time on the BP site has been atrocious. Glad to see you're addressing the issue. It's no longer just attributable to fantasy drafts.

Today was pretty slow - good to see it being addressed. Cheers!

Like comparing Molina's legs to Molina's arm. Pick any Molina - it doesn't matter.

Thanks for the update. The improvement's worth any downtime this weekend.

Thanks and good luck. Hopefully there aren't any hiccups (but there always are!) I know this kind of thing is never a fun way to spend the weekend.

Dave, can you post an update (or some details) on the server switch? Will it in fact improve load times? It's one thing to have a slow load for PFM, but for the homepage?

Good luck!

I note that Team Tracker didn't update today; I suspect it's related to the server switch. Hoping to have it back tomorrow morning!

Great work, thanks for the efforts at providing the best possible experience. Just an FYI the stats are stale (still as of 04/23).

Sorry about that. We're in the process of updating all of our import scripts to be happy with the new architecture. No ETA yet, but just wanted to mention that we're working on it.

Wow ... that's like going from Jamie Moyer to Neftali Feliz, speedwise.

Holy love of god, the website is SO much faster now. It had gotten so slow, I was near the point of all but abandoning BP. Thanks BP for doing what it takes to keep your readers happy!

Just noticed though - time stamp off by four hours (if that's EDT, seven if PDT).
